Lorraine Mackin (née Adams), 60, of Point Pleasant NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 8th, surrounded by her loving family. Lorraine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who, while fighting valiantly during her illness, never lost her trademark subtle smile and exuberant personality.
Born on February 28, 1963 in Montclair, NJ, Lorraine was raised in the Harrison / Kearny neighborhoods where she attended Sacred Heart School, graduated from St. Cecilia High School in Kearny and matriculated at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Lorraine Adams met and married the love of her life on September 13, 1986. Kennie Leo and Lorraine made a Rockaway, NJ, house their first home before briefly moving to Kearny, NJ, and eventually settling in Tinton Falls, NJ. With their three sons in tow, Lorraine took great delight in watching the boys’ exploits on the soccer pitch while they thrived in their beautiful Monmouth County community. Lorraine took great pleasure in working with nonprofit fund-raising organizations including the Multiple Sclerosis Society, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, as well as the American Cancer Society, while also serving as a Patient Advocate with Hackensack Meridian Health. Always an animal lover, Lorraine and the family would routinely adopt at local Humane Society Animal Adoption sites. Sight unseen Lorraine made her choice by inquiring about the pet that had been housed the longest and therefore needed the rescue the most.
Lorraine was predeceased by her mother, Joan Adams, and is survived by her loving husband Kennie Leo, three heartbroken sons, Christopher, Eric and Daniel, and their wives Lindsey, Amy and Julie respectively, her Aunt and Uncle Maryjane and Henry Hudson cousin Jennifer and her daughters Taylor and Ryanne, as well as four grandchildren Finn Leo, Madison, Josephine and Hailey Lorraine, and loving in-laws and countless friends who mourn her too soon passing. A Memorial Service will be offered on Saturday, August 12th at 11am at St. Martha Roman Catholic Church in Point Pleasant, NJ.
