A severe thunderstorm warning alert has been extended by the National Weather Service Philadelphia – Mount Holly for southeastern Pennsylvania counties until 7:30 p.m. Monday. Included are Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia.
At 6:20 p.m. severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Honey Brook to near Kennett Square to near Cecilton, moving northeast at 55 mph. There were warnings for 70 mph wind gusts and nickel-sized hail.
At 6:52 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Christmans to near Claussville to near Birdsboro, moving northeast at 25 mph. Radar indicated 60 mph wind gusts and penny-sized hail. The NWS extended the storm warning until 7:45 p.m. in eastern Berks, Lehigh, northwestern Montgomery, southeastern Carbon, westcentral Bucks.
At 7:30 p.m. the Met-ed outage map showed there were 3,881 FirstEnergy customers without power in Berks County and 63 in Montgomery County. The PPL Outage map showed a total of 67 Berks customers without power at 8 p.m.
At 7:41 p.m. the PECO outage map showed the following number of customers without power: 4,188 in Bucks County, 46,595 in Chester County, 21,449 in Delaware County, 10,565 in Montgomery County and 13,923 in Philadelphia.
There is also a tornado watch in effect until 11 p.m. tonight for 10 counties in Pennsylvania: Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia.
