The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, N.J. has issued a second tornado warning, this time for southeastern Berks County, northwestern Montgomery County and northeastern Chester County until 7:30 p.m. At 6:33 p.m. a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Birdsboro, or near Reading, moving east at 20 mph. Another storm capable of producing a tornado was located near Caernarvon Township at 6:57 p.m.
Radar indicated rotation.
“Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. Locations impacted include: Reading, Pottstown, Birdsboro, Bechtelsville, Gilbertsville, Cedarville, Stowe, Boyertown, Mount Penn, St. Lawrence, Pottsgrove, Lorane, South Pottstown, Reiffton, Amity Gardens, Sanatoga, Kenilworth, Flying Hills and Halfway House. This includes Interstate 176 in between mile markers 6 and 11.”
The updated areas of impact for the extended warning were: “Locations impacted include… Pottstown, Collegeville, Royersford, Trappe, Schwenksville, Spring Mount, Gilbertsville, Cedarville, Stowe, Pottsgrove, South Pottstown, Amity Gardens, Sanatoga, Kenilworth and Halfway House.”
The first warning in the area was issued at 6:16 p.m. for northeastern Berks and central Lehigh counties.
