ADAMS COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – More than a dozen fire companies were on the scene for a call that came in around 2 p.m. for a brush fire on the 5500 block of Chambersburg Road in Franklin Township.
Route 30 was closed from Church and Oak Drive to Old Route 30 but is reopened.
Buchanan Deputy Fire Chief, Nate Woodward, says calls came in around 2 p.m. for spot fires along Chambersburg Road.
Those flames quickly spread because of the wind and dry conditions. The flames eventually engulfed two acres of the area.
Woodward says some homes were in the path of the fire but didn’t have to evacuate because firefighters were able to get things under control.
No injuries were reported and it’s unclear how the fire started.
Adams County doesn’t have a county-wide burn ban currently but there are some local bans.
Franklin Township enacted a burn ban earlier this week.
