Since it began after the Stonewall riots in New York — a series of gay liberation protests in 1969 — the pride month celebration has spread across the borders of the USA. However, while many take to the streets, social media, etc., with rainbow-colored flags and items, some individuals still struggle with the fear of coming out. In celebration of the 2023 pride month, here are some celebrities’ best advice for coming out.
Andy Cohen
For years, Cohen has made no secret that his sexuality isn’t straight. He is an openly gay man and the first of his kind to host a late-night television show. Over three decades after coming out, Cohen is marking LGBT pride month with the best words for individuals still in the closet. The celebrity’s advice for coming out is to find a close friend to tell. The Watch What Happens Live host says all that is needed is a supportive friend.
“And that friend can be the island and just kind of branch out from there,” Cohen reveals.
He also says it is important to know things aren’t as bad as they appear. According to Cohen, it is always worse in one’s head than in real life.
Chris Olsen
The popular content creator has been celebrating LGBT pride month for years as a gay man. Having been in the closet at some point, the celebrity’s advice for coming out is to “find a crew and love them hard.” Also, Olsen has suggested surrounding oneself with support from either blood relatives or chosen family. According to Olsen, such people are ready to love without judging. Furthermore, the TikTok star hammers on the importance of keeping those supportive people around. According to him, they will create an environment where one will feel safe to come out.
Jonathan Bennett
Bennett is celebrating the 2023 LGBT pride month with his husband, Jaymes Vaughan, whom he married in 2022. With a whole lot of experience as an LGBT community member, the celebrity’s advice for coming out is quite beautiful. The Food Network star wants every struggling LGBT kid to know that even adults don’t have it all figured out. Also, he wants such kids to remember that they are enough and being alive and present is never too much.
Chrishell Stause
Stause is a member of the LGBT community as she is happily married to non-binary singer G Flip. In celebration of LGBT pride month, Stause wants people to know that the real ones will always be there. She has also said, “If someone truly loves you, your happiness should always come before their beliefs.” Furthermore, the real estate agent kicks against conforming to others’ ideas about one’s life. According to her, “It’s yours and you only get one.”

The talented singer is unapologetically a member of the LGBT community. Their advice for coming out is to be patient with oneself. G Flip says everything flows in waves, and there will be hard times, but there will also be lovely times. Overall, the Aussie is convinced that the journey to becoming one’s authentic self is never easy with the world’s judgment. However, what was most important was staying true to one’s beautiful self.
Kenny Niedermeier and Armando Rubio
Kenny Niedermeier has been flaunting his sexuality since he came out at 19. While he celebrates the LGBT pride month, the 90 Day Finacé: The Other Way alum has some tough words. The celebrity’s advice for coming out is to know that it will be rough at first. However, it will eventually feel better in the end after getting the weight and chains off. Also, Niedermeier says it will take some time for people around to accept the big revelation. But they will eventually come back around.
Similarly, Niedermeier’s husband, Armando Rubio, gave some encouraging words to people in the closet. “When you’re in the closet, you think it’s not good to happen for me and you live afraid,” Rubio says. However, he is convinced that when one loves and comes to terms with themself and also becomes selfish, putting themself first, it comes back and blesses them.
