More than 3,000 people are expected to visit the Flemington Summer Book Fest this weekend, the largest Memorial Day Book Festival on the East Coast.
The annual festival, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Monday, is presented by the borough’s Act 2 Books, 24 Central Station in Turntable Junction.
The fest will once again be anchored by the Colossal Tent Event, a sale of more than 10,000 books from Act 2 Books plus several thousand LP’s all offered for sale at 99 cents. Records and comics are being offered by Groovy Graveyard Movies, Music and Monsters, of Asbury Park, an official sponsor of the event for several years.
A bag of books is $5.95.
Festivalgoers bringing a non-perishable food item will receive a free book.

“We’ll be raising funds for our local libraries, collecting food for local food pantries, and donating thousands of books to local literacy programs,” said Mike Uhde, founder of Act 2 Books. “We never forget that we’re part of this incredible and supportive community.”
The festival will have a local author showcase 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, featuring 100 authors on Central Station and the Stangl Arts and Cultural District along Stangl Road. Rain date for Author’s Row is Monday.
Throughout Sunday will be New Jersey author readings on true crime, paranormal experiences and Garden State disasters in a program, “Murder, Mayhem and Mystery“ at the Flemington Welcome Center on Stangl Road.
From noon to 3 p.m. Monday there will be Treasure Hunt Road Show Evaluation and Buying Day where the public is invited to bring books, records or comics for an evaluation and a possible offer to purchase.
