Chip worked for Jersey Central Power and Light for forty years. He retired as a Senior Relay Technician. He served six years in the NJ National Guard.
During Chip’s lifetime he was involved in many communities and organizations. He was a soccer coach, and proudly served as a member of Spring Lake Heights Town Council as a councilman where he made many contributions. He was a member of the Spring Lake Heights Fire Department for over twenty years and served as Fire Police. He was also a member of Catawba Wildlife Club, Knights of Columbus, and St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hickory, NC.
His proudest accomplishment besides being a loving husband, father, and grandfather was his membership with the Isshinryu Karate Klub. He was an instructor and active participant for over forty years. He retired as High Grade Master Hashidon, and as a fifth degree black belt.
He enjoyed hanging out with his car buddies on Saturday mornings. He was an avid lover of classic cars and collecting them. He also loved shooting clays at the wildlife club. In his younger days, he was happiest riding his Harley Davidson, and ocean fishing with his family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports and theater. He was always their biggest cheerleader.
Chip will be cremated and there will be a small family service in New Jersey. In lieu of flowers please donate to Amorem Hospice of Hudson, NC. All of the staff from the social workers to the CNA’s treated my father with respect and dignity and gave us wonderful care and empathy. We will forever be grateful for them.
