If having a few beers and other libations while walking among the lions sounds like the ideal night, then the Summer Ale Fest at the Philadelphia Zoo is just about perfect.

More more than 100 award-winning craft beers, seltzers and ciders will take over the zoo grounds June 24, 7-10 p.m.

“We’re proud to put on one of the premier beer festivals in the region,” said the zoo’s Vice President of Mission, Guest and Community Engagement Cara Treadway. “There’s no other place this summer where you’ll be able to try more than 100 different beers, ciders and seltzers and experience the breathtaking beauty of nature and wildlife all in one amazing night. More importantly, the proceeds from this fun event support the animals in our care as well as the zoo’s conservation work and ability to bring under-resourced families to the zoo that might not otherwise be able to visit. It truly is a special event.”

There will be an impressive crop of regional craft brews.

The full list of breweries is subject to change, but includes award winning local brewers like the Conshohocken Brewing Co., Evil Genius Beer Co., La Cabra Brewing, Victory Brewing and Von C.

There will also be an impressive collection of food trucks like The Fabulous Fig, The Munchy Machine and Bonjour Creperie.

Tickets are $95 for early admission (6 to 10 p.m.), $75 for general admission and $45 for nondrinker. They are available exclusively through www.PhiladelphiaZoo.org and will not be available for purchase at the door.

Between dining and drinks under the stars, look for live entertainment that will also have you dancing from exhibit to exhibit. The line up includes the return of indie surf rock band Dry Reef and Philadelphia’s own Mr. Hollywood DJ who are sure to keep guests grooving.

Summer Ale Fest is limited to those 21 or older with valid identification. This is a rain or shine event.
