CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Easter Bunny usually has a busy schedule around this time of year. However, two bunnies teamed up with the Port Matilda Volunteer Fire Company to visit children in Centre County on Sunday.
The Easter Bunny Run kicked off at 9 a.m. on March 24 when the trucks left the fire station. The bunnies were in town up until 2:30 p.m. and they were able to visit seven different locations.
“They get excited, and that’s what it’s all about. The smile on the kids faces. We have Easter eggs with little stickers and stuff in it to hand out,” Josh Witherite, President & Deputy Chief of the Port Matilda Fire Company said.
Despite a busy morning for the station and crew members they still gave it their all to give something special to the local children. Crews were called out at 2 a.m. to a garage fire but were able to wrap everything up in time to start the bunny run.
You can see the route that the Easter Bunny took on the Port Matilda Fire Company Facebook page.

The fire department is planning to change the route around for their annual Santa Run in December to include more townships and more children.
