In an Only on 4 interview with Pittsburgh’s Action News 4, a woman who claimed she was kidnapped at gunpoint in downtown Pittsburgh recalled bargaining with him for her life.”I’ve never been so afraid in my life,” Laura Stuart said, as she described the harrowing events that unfolded over about 45 minutes.Pittsburgh police confirmed with Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that a victim told officers a man approached her with a gun at about 7:40 p.m. in a parking garage in the 300 block of Smithfield Street. The man then allegedly forced her into the passenger seat and he drove with her to the South Side.Stuart recalled the man making several threatening remarks during the drive.”He said something under his breath to the effect of, ‘It’s too bad I have to kill you,'” Stuart recalled.Once they arrived at East Carson Street, Stuart said he drove to a drive-thru ATM and made Stuart withdraw cash.”I took $300 out and I gave it to him,” Stuart said. “And he took off.”When the man ran away, Stuart raced back to her car and took off in the other direction.”At that point it was bad,” Stuart said. “It really all hit me.”Stuart said the last few days have been traumatic.”There are things I will have to work through to be able to do,” Stuart said. “Even my gym is in a parking garage. And I don’t want to go there right now.”Although she was initially hesitant to appear on camera, Stuart said she decided to go ahead with the interview because she hoped it would encourage viewers to exercise vigilance while walking to and from their cars.”I want people to be really aware that these things can happen to even those of us trying to pay attention,” Stuart said.
