Alvin ‘Skip’ Weirman, Jr. 77, of Manasquan, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Sunnyside Manor, Wall, NJ. Alvin was a lifelong resident of Manasquan. He was a 1964 graduate of Manasquan High School and then was drafted into the US Army after high school and served during the Vietnam War. After the war he returned home and started his 36-year career as a mailman in Manasquan for the USPS. He was a member of the Manasquan Fire Company #1 for over 50 years and was a past Chief. A 30-year member of the Manasquan First Aid where he was also the treasurer for many years. Skip was past president of the Southern Monmouth County Fire Chiefs Association, a member of the Manasquan VFW, 13-year Trustee of the Manasquan Fire Department Relief Association. Past president of the Monmouth County Joint Fireman Council, head of the Manasquan OEM, and Life member of the New Jersey State Firemen’s Association. Skip was a baseball coach for Manasquan Little League for several years, an avid reader, loved watching baseball, and doing crossword puzzles in the newspaper. His grandchildren were his life. He was so proud of all their extracurricular accomplishments, and was always there for them.
Skip was predeceased by his parents Alvin F Weirman, Sr. and his mother Jesse, and his sister and brother-in-law Donna Bate, and her husband Bill Bate. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Marion (Herckner) Weirman, of Manasquan, and his loving daughter Allyson Terry of Manasquan. Skip was the cherished grandfather to Brady Bresnahan, Riley Bresnahan, and Joshua Terry. He also leaves behind 2 nieces and a grandniece, Suzanne Wynn and her daughter Rachel Wynn, and Sharon Wynn.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, February 18, 2024, from 1-5 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the funeral home. The interment will follow at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan, NJ.
