(WHTM) – Republican Katayoun Copeland has ended her bid for Attorney General of Pennsylvania, according to the Associated Press.
Copeland’s reported withdrawal from the primary comes after the Pennsylvania Republican Party endorsed York County District Attorney Dave Sunday.
State Representative Craig Williams remains in the race as Sunday’s lone primary opponent.
Copeland, a former District Attorney in Delaware County, launched her campaign in November last year. With 30 years of experience in law enforcement, Copeland previously served as the Chief of the Criminal Division in the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Democrats have five candidates who have publicly declared their candidacies for Attorney General: Eugene DePasquale, Joe Khan, Keir Bradford-Grey, Jared Solomon, and Jack Stollsteimer.
The state’s current Attorney General Michelle Henry has said she will not run after being appointed to replace Josh Shapiro, who was elected Governor in 2022.
Pennsylvania’s primary election is on April 23 and candidates must file paperwork to appear on the ballot by February 13.
