Norman R. Heilos Sr., 94 of Sea Girt, NJ passed away peacefully Sunday, January 14, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Union, NJ Norman moved to Sea Girt in 1963. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Norman worked as a supervisor for RCA in Somerville, NJ until his retirement. After retiring, he worked for the borough of Sea Girt and was the caretaker of St. Mark’s Church for many years. He was a devout catholic and parishioner of St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt where he was very involved. Norman was a member of the Sea Girt Fire Department and Sea Girt Fire Police, Manasquan Elks and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends. He was also a coach for Little League in Spring Lake and Sea Girt as well as a Boy Scout Leader.
Norman was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Alice Heilos, his loving wife Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Heilos in 2020, his son Norman R. Heilos, his daughter Ann Heilos Petro and his sister Elaine Trocchio. Surviving are his son Keith Heilos and his wife Karen of Spring Lake Heights, NJ, son in law George Petro and wife Laura of Kill Devil Hills, NC, daughter in law Dr. Kathleen Strauss of Long Branch, NJ, 7 grandchildren, Brianna, Nicole Jones and her husband Riley, Daniel, Scott, Christoper, Skylar, Jake and his friends and caretakers, J.C., Andrea and Celestine.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 4-7pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, January 18, 2024, 9:30am at St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt, burial will follow in St. Catharine Cemetery, Sea Girt.
