Are all Republican congressmen the same?
Well, not in New Jersey and not on some issues – like looking into impeaching Joe Biden.
The subject here is how GOP reps from New Jersey are talking about Wednesday’s vote to begin an impeachment inquiry into Biden.
Jeff Van Drew in south Jersey’s Second District makes sure readers don’t miss the news.
Information about the inquiry is at the top of his Facebook page.
Scroll down a bit and Van Drew has the following post:
“Where there’s smoke there’s fire. Joe Biden continues to lie about his involvement in his son’s corrupt dealings even as evidence and indictments rack up. All signs point to the highest levels of corruption and (the) House GOP will continue to uncover all the Biden family’s illicit and foreign dealings.”
That leaves little doubt where Van Drew, a former Democrat no less, stands.
In contrast, we have Thomas H. Kean Jr. in CD-7. As of mid-afternoon Thursday, his Facebook page had nothing about the impeachment vote.
At the top of the page is a posting about Kean recently meeting Mayor Mike Stanzilis of Mount Arlington.
And just for the record, the state’s other Republican in Congress, Chris Smith, does not seem to have an active social media presence. A few years ago, for instance, he said he was ending his then-Twitter account because of too frequent “divisive and hate-filled tweets.”
Getting back to Van Drew and Kean, it seems obvious that in CD-2, Van Drew is convinced that a strong impeachment position is going to help him – or at least not hurt him – with voters.
But in the more competitive CD-7, Kean apparently doesn’t see it that way.
