Garry Robert Brown passed away on Monday, October 9, after a brief battle with medical issues potentially brought on by Covid at the age of 95.
He was born August 6, 1928 to Joan V. and Garry B. Brown. He married, January 27,1951 to Jean Louise. They raised two sons, David and Alan and one daughter, Cynthia. Garry served his country for 18 1/2 years in the Navy, and then 20 years for the department of the Navy at United States Naval Ship Research and Development Center (David Taylor Model Basin). He also worked a few years with United States Naval Security Services.
Upon retirement, he began a home-based cabinet and furniture building business and remodeling business. He loved furniture making and participated in the county fair for years as a volunteer and a submitter. He also built all his house cabinets and often repaired friends’ cherished possessions. He was always willing to give his neighbors a helping hand with remodeling or electrical work or anything else. His neighbors were a large part of his life.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean L. Brown. He is survived by his brother Kenneth Brown of Wall Twp., New Jersey and his wife Nancy, and their daughter Karen Rostron and grandchildren Jessica and Michael; his children, David, Alan and Cynthia, their spouses/partner: Barb, Toni and Karin; his grandchildren: Christi, Delaina, Christopher, Shannon, Garry, Jaclyn, Timothy and Nicole; and great grandchildren: Cody, Logan, Cameron, RJ, Kaitlyn and Amelia, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be made at a later date. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery. The family requests you donate in his honor to charities of your choice, or even better, volunteer in your community.
