A birthday bash held at Chestnut Knoll on Sept. 20 marked the 23rd year the personal care and memory care community has served seniors in the tri-county area.
The celebration featured a free concert by the Boyertown Alumni Marching Unit Ceremonial Band, refreshments and homage to fellow employees Linda Detwiler, Diane Heffner and Saige Via for their longstanding service in senior care.
For 20 years, Detwiler has been a part of Chestnut Knoll, serving as the director for Chestnut Knoll at Home Services since its inception.
“I appreciate the opportunity to have helped many families in the area over the past 20 years, as my goal was to give back to the community,” she said.
Heffner, who also celebrated 20 years of service, is the community’s resident care director.
Reflecting on her career, she said: “It has been my pleasure to be part of so many people’s lives and to bring smiles to faces, whether it’s a trip to the Philadelphia Zoo, playing a card game, having a senior dance, parades, and theme days. We’ve had so much fun over the years! But my greatest pleasure is being with the people and being part of their family.”
Via found her calling in senior care while working as the community’s receptionist in high school, progressing to caregiver and med tech.
Now marking 10 years of service, Via is the clinical care coordinator and continues to grow her knowledge and skills.
“This career has bonded me with many families and of course the residents. Chestnut Knoll has truly been my home away from home for 10 years,” Via said. “Chestnut Knoll has supported and been a part of my life through many milestones including graduating high school, getting engaged, having my first baby and now having my second baby.
“I am beyond grateful for all the experience, support, love and opportunity to grow. This team is my family, and I am honored to have been a part for all these years and more to come,” she said.
