A threatening social media post has led to an increased police presence at the Hopewell Area School District in Beaver County. In a social media post, Superintendent Jeff Beltz writes the post did not identify any specific school district being threatened. It only stated a violent threat against “schools in the North on Sept. 15” and “Homecoming parties on Sept. 16.” There were no identifiers specific to any area or region. Hopewell’s homecoming is not this weekend. Beltz said the FBI is investigating, and a township police officer will be at all schools in the district Friday. Schools will continue to operate on a normal schedule. It was nearly six months ago that Hopewell was among several schools in our area that received a swatting call. There’s no word on whether the two incidents may be connected.
