Paterson is known for a lot of things. The “Silk City’s” role in the history of industry is second to none. After all, it is the home to many innovations in technology. It gave birth to the first Colt Revolver, Roger Locomotives, the first submarine and it is one of the first hydro-powered cities (thanks to Paterson Great Falls in the middle of town).
The state’s third-most-populous municipality, however, was just cited as the fourth-worst city in the nation for surviving a zombie apocalypse.
This week, Lawn Love, a national yard care company, ranked 2023’s Best and Worst Cities for Surviving a Zombie Apocalypse.
The 200 largest U.S. cities were scored on on five zombie survival categories: vulnerability, hideouts, supplies, protection and mobility. Then, it considered population density, access to “bunkers” and hunting gear stores, for example, among 30 total metrics.
The Top 5 most survivable cities in order were Houston, New York City, San Antonio, Miami and Los Angeles. The least survivable city? Miramar, Florida.
A common link among the least-survivable cities? They lack access to businesses that offer “survival essentials,” including supermarkets, pharmacies and outdoor gear shops.
