‘Tragic that everybody has to clean up blood’: Neighbors in Penn Hills react after attempted murder-suicide
AND MIKE, YOU’RE ALSO HEARING FROM NEIGHBORS TONIGHT. YEAH, CHRIS AND MIKE, THAT’S RIGHT. WE SPOKE TO NEIGHBORS ON AND OFF CAMERA TODAY. THEY TELL US THAT THE SHOOTER AND THE VICTIM LIVED NEXT DOOR TO EACH OTHER. AND LAST NIGHT IN A DESPERATE ATTEMPT FOR HELP, THE WOMAN HAD APPARENTLY RUN FROM HOME TO HOME THROUGH NEIGHBOR’S YARDS, TRYING TO GET THEIR ATTENTION. AN AND TODAY, WHEN WE ARRIVED ON THORNE DRIVE, WE SAW THE EVIDENCE OF WHAT WAS LEFT BEHIND. PEOPLE CLEANING UP BLOOD. I JUST HEARD A SHOT. THEN I HEARD A LADY SCREAMING AND PANICKED. I WAS LIKE, WHAT’S GOING ON? SHE WAS JUST SAYING, NO, NO. HE SHOT. HE SHOT ME. AND THEN. THEN I DIDN’T HEAR ANYTHING AFTER THAT. AT ABOUT 930 TUESDAY NIGHT, DINA LEE CALLED 911 TO REPORT GUNSHOTS IN HER NEIGHBORHOOD. A COUPLE MINUTES LATER, I WAS WALKING UP TO LOOK OUT THE FRONT. MY FRONT DOOR, AND THEN I HEARD TWO MORE SHOTS. AND THAT’S IT WAS LIKE REALLY CLOSE. LEE LEARNING LATER. THAT’S BECAUSE THE VICTIM WAS GETTING CLOSER WITH THE SHOOTER APPARENTLY CHASING AFTER HER NEIGHBORS ACROSS THE STREET FROM LEE. TELL US THE VICTIM RAN THROUGH NEIGHBOR’S YARDS GETTING TO A HOUSE AT THE END OF THE BLOCK AND THAT’S WHERE IT APPEARS THE MAN SHOT HIMSELF AND DIED. SHE LIVES RIGHT NEXT DOOR. SHE HAS TWO KIDS. I MEAN, WHATEVER THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS, I MEAN, I KNOW THEY WERE CLOSE. THE RELATIONS BETWEEN THESE TWO NEIGHBORS, THE ATTACKER AND THE VICTIM STILL SHROUDED IN SOME MYSTERY. LEE, FOR INSTANCE, DID NOT KNOW THE TWO WERE MARRIED, SOMETHING THE VICTIM’S FATHER CONFIRMED TO PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS 4. I MEAN, I WOULD SAY HI TO HIM IF I SAW HIM, BUT, I MEAN, HE WAS REALLY QUIET. HE NEVER REALLY NEVER SPOKE TO HIM, EVER. HE WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT. PENN HILLS MAYOR, MEANWHILE, SAYING TUESDAY WAS A TRAGIC NIGHT. IT’S NOT A REFLECTION OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD. I THINK IT’S A REFLECTION OF WHAT’S HAPPENING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND GUN VIOLENCE. EVERYBODY’S SHAKEN UP. YEAH, IT’S JUST TRAGIC THAT EVERYBODY HAS TO CLEAN UP BLOOD. AND I DON’T KNOW. NOW WE HAVE DECIDED TO WAIT FOR AUTHORITIES OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION BEFORE WE PUBLICLY IDENTIFIED THE SHOOTER AND THE VICTIM AMONG THE MANY SENSITIVE ELEMENTS OF THE CASE, WE’RE TOLD THAT THE VICTIM’S CHILDREN WERE AT HER HOME AT THE TIME OF THE SHOOTING
