ELK COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – Job opportunities are now available for youth at the Allegheny National Forest and many other public land sites throughout Pennsylvania.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Services has announced that it is now hiring for its Pennsylvania Outdoor Corps’ (PAOC) summer youth program.
The PAOC offers youth, ages 15 to 18, paid, hands-on experience completing duties related to the conservation of natural resources and infrastructure. Since its establishment in 2016, the PAOC has completed hundreds of projects in over 100 Pa. parks and forests.
There are currently opportunities for two crews – one based out of Bradford and one out of Ridgway. Employment is expected to begin July 1 and end Aug. 9. The schedule will be 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday during this time period and will earn $15 per hour, according to the program’s website.
Participants will work alongside a team of peers and conservation professionals, refining their environmental awareness, technical skills, social responsibility and leadership skills, according to Forest Service.
