Rhythm & Threads is teaming up with the Pittsburgh Innovation District, Collab Arts and 1Hood Media to transform South Craig Street into a street fair hub for creativity, sustainability and social justice. There will be skateboarding and break dancing competitions, 50 vendors, graffiti artists and an open-mic session led by DJ QRX and MC NLS Ron featuring hip-hop and R&B artists plus a headlining performance by Livefromthecity. Pop into the Eco-Village to explore the intersection of art, activism, eco-fashion and street culture. Information.
Friday, April 12, & Saturday, April 13: ‘The Show of 1,000 Tomorrows’ at Attack Theatre Studios
7:30 p.m.
Ready for a reset? Be transported to the “remnants of a World’s Fair” as Attack Theatre fuses the past, present and future in this “perpetual motion machine.” Attack co-founder Peter Kope provides the choreography and direction. Called “a precious postcard to your former and future self,” the work reminds viewers of the “power of reflection, hope and the human connection.” Tickets.
Friday, April 12: Grxwn Fxlks presents ‘Independent: A Hiphopumentary’ at The Andy Warhol Museum

Fans of hip-hop and local music can’t miss this film premiere in the Warhol Theater. Pittsburgh hip-hop pioneers Masai Turner and Akil Esoon of Grxwn Fxlks present a “candid fly on the wall look into their creative process,” which includes working with a Grammy Award-winning team to create their critically acclaimed album, “Volume 1: Independent.” The event includes a meet-and-greet session and a Q&A moderated by Nate Da Barber. Saturday, April 13: Wildlife Baby Shower at Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh
10 a.m.-noon
Baby humans are not the only cute creatures who have a registry! Hundreds of baby wildlife, some injured and abandoned, arrive at HARP’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Center every spring in need of supplies and support. This furry, fun-filled event at the East Side shelter includes crafts and snacks and solicits donations to help the animals survive and grow. Information.
Saturday, April 13: Bald Eagle Bike Ride along the Monongahela River
10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Hop on two wheels to breeze along the mighty Mon. The leisurely, 11-mile ride starts rolling in the South Side and heads toward Homestead on a flat section of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. Along the route, riders will stop to learn about the majestic bald eagles that have lived in Hays Woods since 2013. Use binoculars to get a cool view of the nest and look for these birds of prey along the river. Meet at South Side Color Park. Tickets.
Saturday, April 13: ‘Marie Watt: Land Stitches Water Sky’ at Carnegie Museum of Art Forum Gallery
3:30-5 p.m.
From her Indigenous perspective as a citizen of the Seneca Nation with German‒Scot ancestry, interdisciplinary artist Marie Watt explores the connections between steel, glass and Western PA’s industrial history. Celebrate the opening of her exhibition with a conversation between Watt and her Pittsburgh collaborators and participate in sensory activities. Information.
Friday, April 12-Sunday, April 14: ‘Khūrākī’ at Hillman Center for the Performing Arts
7:30 p.m. & 2 p.m.
If you missed its original sold-out run, this weekend is your chance to experience the award-winning RealTime Arts show “Khūrākī.” The multidisciplinary company was motivated to reprise its production by the uptick in Afghan refugees arriving in Pittsburgh. In the Afghan language, Dari, Khūrākī means “eat” or “meal.” Each show features an Afghan tasting menu prepared by the cooks whose stories are told in the show, live music by Trē Seguritan Abalos and Aaron Basskin and a post-show discussion. Sunday, April 14: People, Politics and Power with Black Thought at the BlaxkBox

Spend Sunday afternoon with legendary hip-hop pioneer Black Thought. The prolific rapper is lead MC with The Roots — the Philadelphia hip-hop group he co-founded with Questlove in 1987 that is the house band on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Black Thought will discuss his trailblazing career and his award-winning new book, “The Upcycled Self: A Memoir on the Art of Becoming Who We Are.” As part of 1Hood Media’s “People, Politics and Power” series, the talk takes place at the organization’s HQ at 460 Melwood Ave. Tickets.
Sunday, April 14: Kevin Hart’s ‘Brand New Material’ at the Benedum Center
7 p.m.
Comedy powerhouse Kevin Hart is bringing his new show to the Benedum for just one night. On top of nabbing Emmy and Grammy nominations, Hart is a two-time New York Times bestselling author, chairman of a global entertainment media company and founder of three companies. It all started with his breakthrough role as Luke in Judd Apatow’s TV series, “Undeclared.” The Philadelphia native is the youngest honoree to win the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for American Comedy. Pennsylvania’s largest pop culture convergence, Steel City Con, sets up shop all weekend long at the Monroeville Convention Center, with 600 vendors, dozens of stars, costume contests, panel discussions and more. On Friday, April 12, the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium hosts its Sip & Swirl benefit bash to support local and international conservation programs.
