LOS ANGELES (NEXSTAR) — Jerelyn Rodriguez, co-founder of The Knowledge House based in the Bronx, was named Nexstar’s 2024 Remarkable Women winner on Monday night during a ceremony at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles. Rodriguez focuses her work on teaching coding and other digital skills in underserved communities. Ultimately, Rodriguez wants to help pull people from poverty by giving them the skills they need for high-paying jobs in tech.
Founded in 2014, The Knowledge House has been doing that in the Bronx and is currently expanding to our parts of the country.
For her outstanding work, the Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation will donate $10,000 to Rodriguez and her organization.
Now in its fifth year, Remarkable Women honors the influence that women have had on public policy, social progress, and the quality of life in the United States. Throughout the month of March, Nexstar’s television stations have spotlighted local women who inspire, lead, and forge the way for other women. The company’s television stations across the country each selected four local women to be considered as that market’s “Remarkable Woman.” Profiles of the top four nominees in each market aired on the local newscasts of Nexstar stations each week throughout March, and the nominees were featured on the stations’ websites.
To celebrate their accomplishments, the winners of the local market competitions were flown to Los Angeles this weekend where they enjoyed a poolside reception catered by Wolfgang Puck, a tour of Hollywood, a special “Remarkable Women” presentation at the historic TCL Chinese Theater, and a tour of the Warner Brothers Studio lots which included a taping of The Jennifer Hudson Show.
Rodriguez and other finalists will be featured in an hour-long special program airing on Nexstar’s local television stations across the country throughout the month of April.
Television viewers can learn more about their market’s Remarkable Women by visiting the website of their local Nexstar television station, which features a special section devoted to the initiative. You can also check out a recap of the weekend on the Remarkable Women Facebook page.
