Two Hersheypark goers were sent to the hospital last week when a raccoon attacked guests while they were waiting in line for a roller coaster on opening day.
In a video posted on TMZ, guests who were waiting in line for the SooperDooperLooper were seen running away and screaming in panic after the raccoon entered the the waiting area on March 29.
The raccoon was also seen biting what appears to be a girl. A voice in the background can be heard saying that the raccoon also took the the girl’s shoe before getting away and not being seen again.
Hersheypark spokeswoman Quinn Bryner said the raccoon bit one guest and scratched another. She said they were taken to a hospital for observation.
“While the raccoon has not made another appearance at Hersheypark, planning is in place to capture the raccoon should it return,” she said.
Hersheypark provided the following statement:
“This is the first incident that we can recall of what appeared to be a frightened raccoon acting in this manner at Hersheypark. While our park is surrounded by nature, we do have extensive fencing to help prevent this type of incident from occurring.
“Guest safety is and will always be our top priority at Hersheypark. As such, we have a full complement of public safety and health professionals on property who responded quickly to render necessary care to the two people impacted.”
