Lebanon man charged after police standoff

LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lebanon man has been charged after allegedly threatening another person, leading to a heavy police presence in the city on Tuesday.

Lebanon City Police say on March 26, officers responded to the 800 block of Chestnut Street and learned a maintenance supervisor was allegedly threatened by Thomas Cahill Jr.

Officers learned Cahill Jr. was possibly in possession of long guns and say he refused to leave the building. While speaking with Cahill Jr. over the phone, police say it was apparent he was intoxicated.

Area roads were closed as a precaution, however, they were reopened after police said they reassessed their response. Officers cleared the scene and continued to monitor the location until search and arrest warrants were obtained.

Cahill Jr. was taken into custody without incident on March 27 and is facing one count of terroristic threats. Police recovered three long guns and say they’re consulting with the District Attorney’s office on other potential charges.
