(WTAJ) — Pennsylvania Republicans announced a multimillion-dollar vote-by-mail initiative that would aim to inform and encourage voters to request ballots.
The Sentinel Action Fund, a conservative Super PAC focused on voter outreach, announced the initiative on Tuesday, March 19. The first-of-its-kind effort comes as a way to ensure that Republican votes are accounted for on the ballots as well as the voter base representation.
The outreach will also focus on teaching voters how to cast their ballot in a way that works best for them. Voters have the opportunity to go online to learn how to join the annual mail-in voter list so they receive a ballot for both the primary and general elections in Pennsylvania.
While in the 2020 election mail-in-votes were a sore spot for the GOP and flagged as “election fraud,” the party decided to take on this initiative as a way to go head to head with the democratic party.
“Embracing early and absentee voting is key for a Republican victory in 2024. As we saw in previous cycles, Republicans must be mobilized earlier in the cycle and equipped with a strategy to connect with and turn out voters before Election Day,” Sentinel Action Fund President Jessica Anderson said.
The program’s focus is to allocate resources post-primary heading into the general election. The strategic approach includes engaging persuadable and low-propensity Republican voters, provide them ample opportunities to request a ballot via the mail, digital advertising and door-to-door programs.
The PAC also noted that this type of voter outreach program is the largest of its kind in Pennsylvania.
