In the first ever PIAA boys volleyball match for both schools, Downingtown West defeated Downingtown East, 3-1, Tuesday, posting scores of 27-25, 25-19, 19-25 and 25-14. West was led by Luke Chambers (14 kills, two blocks), Cole O’Hara (three kills, two blocks, four aces, 20 assists), Brian O’Hara (seven kills) and Alex Wele (three kills).
Boys’ Tennis
West Chester East 6, Oxford 1 >> The Vikings swept the doubles matches in this Wednesday contest and won in straight sets at first singles (Ben Gao) and third singles (Daksh Shah). Oxford’s Kevin Meiler won second singles in straight sets.
Downingtown West 6, Great Valley 1 >> The Whippets swept the singles matches, with Leo Shi (first singles), Cash Bailey (second) and Jack Sheldon (third). Great Valley won second doubles (Ishaan Joshi/ Varun Sentill) in straight sets.
Unionville 6, Sun Valley 1 >> Winners for the Longhorns included Jeremy Hsu and Ethan Wang at singles, and all four doubles teams — Shailen Patel/Rithvik Kasina (first doubles), Ethan Hoffmann/Advik Jasti (second), Graham Rothman/Rohan Gandhi (third) and Dom Rayos/Ojas Mahale (fourth).
Abington Friends 4, Delaware Valley Friends 1 >> For DVFS, the second doubles team of MG Pothen and Seher Emresoy won 4-1.
Girls’ Lacrosse
West Chester East 10, Ridley 9 >> In this Tuesday contest, the Vikings won in overtime and were led by Audrey Argonish (five goals), Lucy Daley (two goals, including the game-winner), Monica Krause (two goals), Syndney Krause (two goals) and Madelyn Morris (12 saves).
Baseball
Great Valley 11, Kennett 6 >> For the Patriots, pitcher Danny Carr struck out 11 batters in this Tuesday contest and Alex Bartlett contributed four hits.
Softball
Downingtown West 17, West Chester Henderson 0 >> In this five-inning contest Tuesday, Emma Ahlborn and Lizzie Kern each had three RBIs.
