CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Multiple fire departments were called to the scene of a fire at the Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday night.
According to Cambria County Emergency Services, crews responded to the 300 block of Vo Tech Drive in Richland Township just before 8 p.m. on March 12. The Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department said they arrived at the nursing home to find smoke showing from the front of the building.
People were evacuated from the building and six people (4 employees and 2 patients) were transported from the scene, according to emergency officials. They were taken to Conemaugh Medical Memorial Center out of concern for smoke inhalation.
According to Richland Township Chief Wes Meyers, the fire was contained to one room. They believe that it was caused by one of the HVAC units, but it is still under investigation at this time.
