Joseph B. Kayhart, 71, of Point Pleasant Beach passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Kayhart retired in 2008 as a master electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers IBEW Local #102 in Parsippany. Joe started his career with Local #581 and rose through the ranks to become an officer before the merger to become Local 102. He was a well-respected, dedicated 50 years member of the Union. Joe was a 3 year member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, a member of the VFW in Morris Plains, American Legion in Point Pleasant, Lions Club International, the Huntsville Rod and Gun Club in Blairstown, the Riviera Beach Boat Club in Point Pleasant and the Jersey Coast Shark Anglers Club at the Jersey Shore.
Born in Morristown, Joe grew up in Cedar Knolls graduating from Bayley Ellard High School in Madison, NJ. He lived in Randolph for 20 years before retiring to Point Pleasant Beach 16 years ago.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Edward J. and Muriel Kayhart; and his sister, Marilyn Carlin. Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Pamela J. (Hughson) Kayhart; sons, Joseph E. Kayhart of Point Pleasant Beach and Brian A.Kayhart and his wife, Kelly of Ashburn, VA.
Viewing will be on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 1-4pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A prayer service will be conducted at 4pm in the funeral home. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Joe’s memory to St. Barnabas Hospital Burn Unit, Livingston, NJ.
