Dorothy Artz passed away on March 3, 2024. She was 96 years old, born in Bayonne, NJ, on September 5, 1927.
Dorothy was the daughter of Pauline and Joseph Loksa. She graduated from Bayonne High School, and married Lester J. Artz a few years later. Dorothy worked in a hat shop in Bayonne, and later in an Exxon office in New York City. She had two daughters, Kathleen and Loreen, and one daughter, Maureen, who passed at birth. Dorothy had one brother, Edward Loksa, with whom she was very close, as well as Edward’s children, Debbie Loksa Ommert and Mark Loksa.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lester, and is survived by her daughter Kathleen Santorelli and her husband, Louis, her daughter Loreen Artz and her partner Robert Piacente, her grandchildren Travis Artz and his partner Katie Lee Hill, Jersey Scaglione, great granddaughter, Harlowe Scaglione, nephews Jerry Artz and his wife, Kim, and Derek Artz and his wife, Teresa, and their children. Dorothy loved her friends Peggy, Alice and Helen, as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
Dorothy met her husband while roller skating, when Lester was employed as a singing roller guard, and they both thoroughly enjoyed roller-dancing. Dorothy dedicated her life to being the best loving wife, mother and grandmother. She volunteered as a Sunday School teacher, played the organ, babysat her grandchildren, and loved flowers and holidays, especially Christmas. Dorthy was also a great pet Mom, enjoyed knitting, baking and music, being a particularly huge fan of Neil Diamond. She was a helper, giver, and filled her home with love, warmth and kindness. Dorothy was a very positive person, who accepted all and judged none, had a great sense of humor and always shined a warm bright light on everyone. She will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at Reilly-Bonner Funeral Home, 801 D Street, Belmar, NJ, 07719, on Saturday, March 9, 2024, 1:00p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Repass will be announced following services.
