YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Someone donates to a Midstate food pantry every day, but it is not every day we get to see a donation like the one a local food pantry received on Monday morning.
The York County Food Bank received 30,000 pounds of food Monday morning from the Lancaster branch of The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints.
Those at the food bank have said that food insecurity did not end with the pandemic.
“Afterwards, the high grocery prices and the reduction in some of the benefits that folks were receiving has affected families. and so, some people have a difficult choice between paying bills, paying medical bills, and receiving food. and we want them to know that we’re here. and this donation is going to help us to provide that healthy, nutritious food for anybody who needs it,” Kelly Rodgers of the York County Food Bank said.
The church is a member of a larger organization of religious groups and non-profits called Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster.
