HERE. WELL, ELENA, WE ARE INSIDE SAINT AGNES. AND THIS IS WHERE THE VOLUNTEERS HERE. TELL ME, SAMANTHA KALKBRENNER VOLUNTEERED EVERY YEAR AND THEY ARE HONORING HER THIS YEAR. TAKE A LOOK. THIS IS THE APRON THEY ARE WEARING HERE AND THROUGHOUT THE SAINT THOMAS PARISH. THEY ARE ALSO DONATING THE MONEY RAISED BY THIS. SO YOU CAN PURCHASE THEM AS WELL. I WANT TO GO AHEAD AND SHOW YOU THOUGH. THE FISH FRY IS UNDERWAY HERE. THEY STARTED AT 10:00 TODAY HERE FOR ASH WEDNESDAY, AND THEY WILL GO UNTIL ABOUT 7:00 TONIGHT. NOW THE VOLUNTEERS HERE HAVE BEEN WORKING HERE FOR MANY YEARS IN FACT, I SPOKE WITH ONE WHO HAD BEEN HERE FOR 15 YEARS AND SHE TELLS ME IT’S GOING TO BE A LITTLE DIFFICULT AS THE DAY GOES ON. RIGHT? SHE. VOLUNTEERED ALL THE TIME WITH ALL THE KIDS FROM SAINT AGNES, AND THEY WERE HERE SINCE THEY WERE COMING HERE SINCE KINDERGARTEN, BASICALLY PRESCHOOL. AND SO FAR IT’S KIND OF A NORMAL DAY BECAUSE THEY’RE STILL ALL IN SCHOOL. SO I’M SURE IT’LL BE HARD WHEN ALL THE KIDS COME LATER ON IN THE DAY WHEN SCHOOL LETS OUT. YEAH. MELISSA WILCOX TELLS ME THAT SAM’S MOM WILL BE HERE IN A LITTLE BIT AS WELL. THEY CALL HER A PRO IN THE KITCHEN. THEY SAY THIS IS WHERE THE FAMILY CAME EVERY YEAR TO SERVE, TO GIVE BACK JUST ONE OF THE THINGS THEY DID FOR THE CHURCH. AND AGAIN, THESE APRONS, THEY ARE ALL WEARING HERE ARE FOR SALE. Serra Catholic High School is offering several new memorial scholarships.Video above: Fish fry honors Samantha Kalkbrenner’s memory The first is the Samantha Lee Kalkbrenner Memorial Scholarship. The 15-year-old student was killed in a crash while on the way to school last year. Three $1,000 scholarships will go to current or incoming Serra Catholic students in honor of Samantha. In addition, the Olivia Dapper Memorial Scholarship will offer $1,000 to a current student, and the John Hart Memorial Scholarship will offer $650 to a current student.
