THE ANIMALS WERE FOUND ON A PROPERTY IN SOUTH BUFFALO TOWNSHIP. NOW, ANIMAL CONTROL AGENTS SAY THEY WERE LIVING AMONG HAY SOAKED WITH URINE AND FECES, WITH LITTLE SHELTER FOR PROTECTION. THEY WERE COATED IN FECES. THEY HAD ROCKS STUCK IN THEIR MATS. UM, SOME OF THE DOGS HAD MAMMARY MASSES THAT NEEDED TO BE REMOVED AND SENT OUT FOR BIOPSY. THERE WAS PRIOR KNOWLEDGE BY THE HUMANE OFFICER IN ARMSTRONG COUNTY THAT THIS WOMAN WAS POSSIBLY NEGLECTING HER ANIMALS. THE HUMANE OFFICER RECEIVED A TIP THAT THE ANIMALS HAD BEEN MOVED FROM ONE PROPERTY THAT WAS INVESTIGATED IN OCTOBER TO THIS NEW PROPERTY THAT WE WENT TO ON THURSDAY. NOW THE DOGS ARE BEING EVALUATED. HUMANE, HUMANE ANIMAL RESCUE STAFF MEMBERS ARE HELPING THEM TO READJUST TO HUMAN CONTACT, AND THEY ANTICIPATE THAT SOME OF THEM WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION SOO
30 dogs adopted after being rescued from abuse in Armstrong County
All 30 dogs saved in December from a reported animal abuse situation in Armstrong County have been adopted, Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh announced Friday.HARP wrote that despite the “dire conditions” the canines were found in, “the community’s collective effort and unwavering support paved the way for these dogs to experience the warmth and love they so rightfully deserve.”The dogs were rescued alongside dozens of other animals, including goats and horses, living in alleged unsanitary conditions at a farm in South Buffalo Township. Law enforcement said the woman who managed the farm had been keeping the animals in tight quarters with straw covered in urine and feces.Several breeds of dogs were found, as well as a mother with week-old puppies. Twenty dogs were taken to the shelter on Pittsburgh’s East Side, while 10 more were brought to the North Side shelter.Armstrong County Humane police presented members of HARP with a certificate of appreciation for the agency’s role in connecting the dogs with their forever homes.
