DUNCANNON, Pa. (WHTM) – No internet is the reality for those living on Pleasant Grove Road and Dark Hollow Road in Perry County.
Cell Service is tough to come by in the area, but no internet makes it hard to function. Most of the issues are for customers with Brightspeed Internet.
“There’s no telephone service out here,” Randy Gardner said. “The internet comes through the phone line. My phone in the house runs through the Wi-Fi and you go to do something and it’s gone.”
Gardner isn’t alone. Susan Fulton is facing issues, too.
She checks in daily with her 91-year-old neighbor who was without power for a few days. She still doesn’t have a landline she can use due to the internet being out.
It’s their only way to communicate back and forth when Fulton isn’t at her house.
“She needs a phone. If she falls, she’ll call and say ‘I need help getting up,’” Fulton said. “I can’t get to her if I don’t know she’s fallen.”
The loss of power led to extremely low temperatures.
“It was 42 degrees in the house and she was all bundled up, laying in bed, all covered up,” Fulton said.
We called Brightspeed to see when any service would be down to the downed power line. They told us they plan on making it out to fix the problem on Mar. 1.
That’s 18 days from the loss of the internet.
“I don’t know why it takes so long,” Gardner said.
Most people pay their bills online, which may become a problem if nobody has internet.
“I just hope and pray they get out here and do something,” Gardner said.
