David L. Oppegaard, 82 of Wall Township passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024 with his family at his bedside.
Originally from Valley City, North Dakota, David made Wall Township his home in 1961. He was a candy buyer for Jersey Coast Tobacco and was known by the neighborhood to have the best candy on Halloween. Throughout his retirement, Dave loved watching his grandchildren grow up. He cherished many trips with lifelong and dearest friends, Rose and Sam Sluka, and participated in activities with the Pride of Wall Seniors Club.
He was preceded by his parents Joe and Blanch (McFadgen) Bourgeois, his beloved wife of 58 years, Barbara (Davenport) Oppegaard, and his five brothers, Milton, Richard, Donald, Robert and Steven Oppegaard.
Surviving are his 2 sons and their wives, Richard and Christine Oppegaard and Michael and Stephanie Oppegaard and his 3 cherished grandchildren, Dr. Kylie Oppegaard, Adam Oppegaard and Ryan Oppegaard.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a Celebration of Life on Dave’s 83rd Birthday, February 21, 2024 from 3-6pm at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 and New Bedford Rd., Wall Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Pride of Wall Seniors, 2700 Allaire Road, PO Box 1168, Wall, NJ 07719, in memory of Dave.
