Susan L. Oshel, age 62, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at Ocean Medical Center on January 18, 2024.
She was a resident of Point Pleasant Borough for twenty-seven years. Susan was born June 26, 1961, in Long Branch, NJ to Jack and Pat Fletcher. Susan grew up in Allenwood, NJ. where she graduated from Wall High School, June 1979. After high school Susan attended and graduated from Rochester Dental Assistants School, February 1981. She later attended and graduated from Brookdale Community College, in May 1994 with an associate degree in applied science.
She was a beautiful and talented woman, she could dance, play piano, sing, was artistic, fashion modeled, played sports, decorate, cook, and had many other natural abilities, you could say she was a renaissance woman as she could do anything she tried to do and do it well. She met her future husband Steven while she was a bridesmaid, and he was an usher. They were married in April 1995. Her greatest joy in life, Nicholas, came into this world December 2000 and life was never better.
Susan worked in different occupations during her career, her longest tenure was at Fort Monmouth where she rose to be the executive assistant to a three-star General. When her son was born, she left the workforce to take care of her family. Her life was devoted to her family and helping them in every way she could. Susan loved to be with her family no matter where that was. Her favorite past times were reading and playing golf where she once made a hole in one. She was a member of The Church of Saint Martha, Point Pleasant.
She was predeceased by her father Jack, May 2021, her maternal grandparents Dutch and Irene King, and paternal grandparents Edward and Kathleen Fletcher.
She is survived by her loving husband Steven of twenty-eight years and their son Nicholas, her mother Pat and brother Steven, in-laws Gerard, his wife Arnese and their sons Anthony and James, and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family thanks all of Susan’s friends for being part of her life. Susan was a beautiful wife, a loving mother, and a best friend for many who will be dearly missed by all.
Services were private. In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Susan can be made to the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) or a favorite charity.
