HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A public meeting was held Wednesday by Capital Region Water to discuss the sewer repair work that is set to begin in February in the area of Kensington and 22nd Street in Harrisburg.
During the meeting project engineers and contractors shared details about the project and how the project will affect residents in the area.
Cynthia Watkins, a Kensington Street resident said, “My main concern is parking because on the even number side of the street, we have one parking option and that’s in front of our houses. We cannot park in the rear where the people on the opposite side of the street have garages in the rear and parking spaces.”
Capital Region Water stated that the work is necessary to repair the sewer pipe collapse that occurred near the intersection of Kensington and 22nd Street.
Traditional methods of fixing pipes cannot be used in this situation due to the depth of the pipe, so a $1 million repair project was selected and includes:
- Temporary Water Service Interruptions
- Road Closures
- Sidewalk Closures
- Parking Restrictions
- Blocked Off-Street Parking
- Tree Removal
- Construction Noise
- General Construction Activity
Capital Region Water also states that they are working with the City of Harrisburg to make sure that the collection of trash and recycling isn’t interrupted.
The project is set to start on Monday and finish in the spring.
