A baby shower in Pittsburgh’s Fairywood neighborhood turned deadly Saturday evening.One person is dead and two others are wounded after gunfire broke out at the Westside Salvation Army Community Center at 1831 Broadhead Fording Road. Pittsburgh Public Safety said one male was pronounced dead at the scene and another was hospitalized in critical condition. The Salvation Army released a statement Sunday which said in part that the organization “is saddened to confirm that there was a tragic shooting at its Pittsburgh Westside Worship and Service Center yesterday evening. The incident occurred during a private function being hosted at the Center and did not involve any members of The Salvation Army. We are grieved by this senseless act of violence in our church and pray for the victims of the shooting and their families. “The Salvation Army is cooperating with the local authorities investigating the incident. The Pittsburgh Westside Worship and Service Center will be closed until further notice.”This deadly shooting was the second shooting in the city’s Fairywood neighborhood in a week. Last Sunday, police found two teenagers shot along Fairywood Street. That’s about a quarter mile from Saturday night’s incident. A 16-year-old boy was shot in the stomach, and a 17-year-old was shot in both legs. Both were taken to the hospital from that scene.
