STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) – With the 2024 Pennsylvania primary only three months away, voters from both sides in Centre County are invited to sign campaign petition to make sure their candidates get on the ballot.
Both the Centre County Democratic Committee and the Centre County Republican Committee are holding petition signing events on the evening of Jan. 23 in State College.
The petition filing period for the 2024 Pennsylvania primary will span from Jan. 23 to Feb. 13. During this time, all candidates who intend to run for elected position must circulate a petition and receive signatures from registered voters in their district that belong to the party the candidate represents. This petition must then be filed with the appropriate board of elections in order for the candidate’s name to appear on the ballot.
The Centre County Republican Committee is inviting voters not only to sign candidate petitions, but also to watch the New Hampshire primary election with them. Their event will take place from 6-9 p.m., at the Champs on N. Atherton St. Those attending are encouraged to wear red.
The Centre County Democratic Committee will be at the Ramada Inn on S. Atherton St. from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for its Petition Signing Kick-off Event. The event is co-sponsored by Representative Scott Conklin (D-Centre) and Representative Paul Takac (D-Centre).
Candidates will be at the event to answer questions voters may have as well as ask for a signature on their petition. Light snacks will be served, a cash bar is available and a $10 donation is encouraged.
