The Montgomery County Planning Commission is sponsoring The Course in Subdivision and Land Development Review in three consecutive Thursday sessions—May 9, 16, 23 2024—Towamencin Township Building (Meeting Hall), 1090 Troxel Road, Lansdale PA, 19446, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This course, which is taught in three consecutive sessions, focuses on the work of planning commissions in the subdivision and land development review process, from preapplication meetings through project completion. It is designed for both new and experienced planning commission members and is also useful to other municipal officials, individuals in the development sector, and engineers and surveyors.
The course is organized into three major sections: 1) the principles of subdivision and land development regulation and ordinance requirements, 2) subdivision and land development review procedures, and 3) design and technical standards of subdivision development. Participants get hands-on experience reviewing plans and designing alternative solutions. Course topics include the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code (MPC) requirements governing subdivision and land development regulation, the importance of subdivision regulations to municipalities and to developers, procedures for reviewing applications, design considerations, requirements for approving and denying plans, project completion and follow-up, and new approaches to project design.
Registration & Payment
The course is limited to 25 participants, and preregistration is required. The registration fee is $110 and is due at the first session. Municipal officials and staff members from municipalities with a current planning assistance contract with MCPC are eligible for a discounted rate of $90. Payment by credit card is not available at this time. A check, made payable to Montgomery County Treasurer, may be sent prior to the course at the mailing address below or brought to the first session of the course. The registration fee also may be paid in exact cash at the first session. We will invoice your community/business/organization if needed.
