Joan Anne Child (Murphy), 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday January 5, 2024.
Joan was born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, until moving to Avon-By-The-Sea as a teenager. Joan cherished living in Avon where she met the love of her life, her husband, Thomas and dedicated her life to raising her six boys. Affectionately referred to as ‘Joanie’, she appreciated the simple things in life, embracing the joy of Christmas, her ocean view and a good book. Joan was happiest in the company of others, thriving in the presence of family while inviting friends and neighbors to stop by her porch to say hello. To be loved by Joan was to be loved completely. Her family and friends will miss her smile and spirit and will forever cherish their memories together.
Joan was predeceased by her loving husband Thomas M. Child Jr. and her parents Jack and Eileen Murphy.
Surviving are her six sons; William & Gail of Fair Haven, John and Tracy of Bradley Beach, Kevin & Megan of Summit, Thomas & Jennifer of Spring Lake Heights, James & Tracy of Avon, Ryan of Belmar; her sister Kathleen Heffernan (Kevin) of Franklin Lakes and her 16 grandchildren whom she loved with all of her heart; Jack, Matthew, Ryan, Emily, Grace, Michael, Maris, Jeffrey, Keelin, Connor, Justin, Ava, Olivia, Maeve, Sadie and Charles Child.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass at Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Avon at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 12th, 2024.
