Nancy DiComo LoVarco, 95 of Wall Twp. passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at Preferred Care at Wall with her devoted family at her bedside.
Nancy was born in Brooklyn, NY and resided in New York, NY before moving to Wall Twp. over 30 years ago. As a resident of Wall Twp., she was a Communicant of St. Catharine’s Parish, Spring Lake
She and her late husband were the owner/operators of Mr. Prime Old Tyme Butcher in Manasquan and prior to that they owned Tom Bailey’s Gourmet Market in Spring Lake.
Nancy was also the proud co-founder of the infamous group known as Pub Prime.
Nancy was one of the first women ever to be hired as an art director in the publishing industry. She’d been an art director for EP Dutton for many years and had been the winner of several American Institute of Graphic Arts awards. She designed countless award-winning books and was an accomplished illustrator in her own right. In her younger days she played professional baseball, ran track and excelled at the javelin throw.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Fannie (nee Hartman) DiComo, and her husband Nicholas E. LoVarco on April 6, 2018.
Surviving are her 2 sons Randall Etheredge and Warren Etheredge and her step-children Barbara LoVarco and Joe LoVarco and grandchildren Ava Etheredge, Francesca LoVarco, Nicholas LoVarco, Thomas LoVarco and Bryan LoVarco.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Catharine’s Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake. Burial will follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall Twp.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Twp.
