Two people have died after a fire at a home in Donora, Washington County.The fire broke out around 5 a.m. Sunday at a home along McKean Avenue. At least six fire companies responded. The county coroner identified the deceased as Tracy Honabarger, 41. In a news release, the coroner wrote she was trapped in the fire and taken to the emergency department at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital.The county coroner identified Clifford Honabarger, 38, as the other victim.Mayor Donnie Pavelko said the neighboring houses have a significant amount of damage to them, but no one was hurt in those houses. Neighbor Scott Nedrow said this fire could have turned much worse. “These homes have been here a long time, they are built very close. The risk of a contagious fire was a real risk, that’s why you had all these companies here trying to prevent something catastrophic,” he said. This is the second fire in two weeks on Mckean avenue. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 spoke with James Smith, Tracey’s husband, and he said he barely got out of the house himself.He said luckily, the two children, 15, and 18, were not home at the time. Clifford is the biological father to the children, and was staying with them. A family friend is accepting donations for the family.
