Spotted Moth | Cross Stitch Pattern • Ugly Duckling House

New month, new pattern! This might be one of my favorite patterns of the year and part of a new collection I have over on NeedleSpark: moths and butterflies!

First off, a note (what I’m going to call “Thing One”): April, May, and June (and probably July!) are going to be a crazy few months for me. For one (and it’s a biggie!), we found our new home! As a family, we’ll be focusing a great deal on getting ready for the big move this summer, which means things are going to be stressful. You can get a sneak peek at the new house here though (and I hope you’ll join me in feeling super-excited or sending good vibes as we make these huge changes <3).

For another thing (aka “Thing Two”), moving also means that we need to get one of our biggest-ever side projects, Ruby’s Revival, in “good enough” shape to travel the 478 miles to our new property. I typically devote several weeks each spring to this project (if you don’t know much about it, check out our 1946 vintage camper renovation here). With the move quickly approaching, I’m pretty much throwing myself completely into it and seeing how far I can get in a busy, flurried pile of DIY projects in every open space I can squeeze into our current rental space. It is a MONEY PIT, but I’m still loving every sticky, grimy part of this beautiful project.

Back to cross stitch (ha, I love that I get to cover so many types of DIY on this blog). As a result of Thing One and Thing Two, this post is being backdated super late (hello, May!). I have all of 2023 patterns pre-created to release on the first of each month over in the free library, so if you ever don’t see the monthly post go live but are an existing subscriber, you can still use the info you receive in your subscriber emails to log into the library and grab the next pattern on each first of the month (for example, June’s pattern will go live within the first day or two of the month regardless of whether or not the post for June is written).

So, all caught up? Great! I have tons of DIY content that’s also on the way because of the backlog (I’ve been remodeling the basement remodel these last few months too, and completely restructured the house tour page in anticipation of having more of that needing to be subdivided by space). Alrighty… onto the free April pattern! This lovely image was first found as I was browsing the Canva, and I converted the original into the stitch pattern you see here.
