Jersey Mike’s Subs recently raised $4 million for Feeding America — with the help of its customers.
The money was raised Nov. 18 and 19, with the fast causal chain pledging to donate 20% of that weekend’s sales to the domestic hunger-relief organization, to help its member food banks keep their shelves stocked throughout the holiday season.
In the past three years, Jersey Mike’s has donated more than $15 million to the organization, helping to provide more than 150 million meals through its nationwide network of 200 local partner food banks. Every dollar donated helps to provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local partner food banks, according to a press release.
“Feeding America is deeply grateful for partners like Jersey Mike’s in the movement to end hunger. Their ongoing commitment to the mission is helping to support communities and nourish futures,” Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America, said in a statement.
Feeding America support people experiencing food insecurity, partnering with policymakers, organizations, and supporters, “united with them in a movement to end hunger.”
Across the region, Jersey Mike’s has locations in Hatfield, Kennett Square, Blue Bell, West Chester, Phoenixville, Horsham, Radnor, Spring Township and Muhlenberg Township, joining forces with several additional Pennsylvania and New Jersey-area stores.
Jersey Mike’s has more than 2,500 locations nationwide. Philanthropy is reflected in the company’s mission statement — “Giving…making a difference in someone’s life.”
