Anthony D. ‘Tony’ Nevolo, 90, formerly of Sea Girt, NJ, passed away on November 20, 2023, in Bridgewater, NJ.
Tony was born April 29, 1933, in Neptune, NJ, the youngest child of Nicola and Caroline (De Sarno) Nevolo and was raised in Bradley Beach. Tony graduated from Asbury Park High School in 1951 where he excelled in sports, especially basketball, for which he earned a scholarship to attend Lafayette College.
Tony was generous and compassionate and had a strong sense of responsibility for his family. A child of Italian immigrants, Tony’s father died when he was young and he was raised by his mother and grandmother. He worked from an early age to contribute to his household and often told stories about setting up pins at the bowling alley and umbrellas on the beach, lifeguarding, and delivering cases of Coca-Cola to Jersey shore businesses. He was grateful for the mentors and peers who gave him opportunities to grow.
Following service in the U.S. Army, Tony launched a career at the Coca-Cola Company that spanned nearly 40 years. He held various sales and sales leadership roles in NJ and NY before retiring as a national accounts executive.
In his youth Tony befriended many members of the Martone family from Fair Lawn, NJ, and during the summer of 1952 he began to date Concha Martone. The two married in 1953 and spent 70 years building a beautiful family and life together in Fair Lawn, where they raised their three children, and down the shore in Sea Girt where they retired. They spent many happy years in Sea Girt hosting gatherings and summer vacations that his family will always treasure.
Tony was a true family man and active in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives. He showed a genuine interest and pride in their pursuits, and he made time to be present for them in NJ as well as in various states where they later lived. He extended a trusted hand and warm smile to his many nieces, nephews, and family friends who were always welcome in his home and given a place at his table. He had a quick wit and good sense of humor and was the funniest person in the room.
Tony was an avid golfer who enjoyed his long-term membership at Spring Lake Golf Club and deeply valued the friendships he and Concha made there.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his dear grandmother, Marianne De Sarno, his sister, Sr. Frances Nevolo, brother, Joseph Nevolo, and sisters-in-law Ann Nevolo and Lois Stalter.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Concha; children Michael (Kristy) Nevolo, Mary (Matthew) Logsdon, and John (Donna) Nevolo; grandchildren Nathaniel (Adrien) Logsdon, Julie (John) Halverson, Jeffrey (Diana) Nevolo, Laura (Josh Kriz) Logsdon, Christopher (Kara) Nevolo, Timothy Nevolo, Dennis Nevolo, David Nevolo, and Kelsey (Christopher) Brianik; and seven great-grandchildren. They will miss his unending love and gentle guidance.
