NORRISTOWN — A New Hanover man faces four years of court supervision and must report his address to police for more than a decade after he admitted to possessing child pornography.
Samuel David Comeriato, 23, of the 2600 block of Big Road in the Zieglerville section of the township, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to four years of probation after he pleaded guilty to multiple felony counts of possessing child pornography in connection with incidents that occurred between November 2021 and May 2022.
Judge Thomas P. Rogers said Comeriato must comply with all recommendations for treatment stemming from a psychosexual evaluation. Comeriato, who will be placed under sex offender supervision, also is prohibited from having contact with minors.
Additionally, Comeriato faces a 15-year requirement to report his address to state police in order to comply with Pennsylvania’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act, previously known as Megan’s Law.
An investigation of Comeriato began in March 2022 when New Hanover police received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding two videos, uploaded by a user of the Kik social media platform, that contained suspected child pornography, according to a criminal complaint filed by New Hanover Detective Michael Coyle.
The videos depicted female children engaged in sexual acts or in various stages of undress and sexual poses, according to the arrest affidavit.
Investigators traced the user’s internet address to Comeriato.
Detectives obtained a warrant to search Comeriato’s residence on May 12, 2022, and during the search they seized two mobile devices belonging to Comeriato.
“A subsequent forensic examination of the electronic devices belonging to Samuel David Comeriato revealed the presence of media files which depicted children under the age of 18 engaged in prohibited sexual acts or in the simulation of such acts,” Coyle alleged in the arrest affidavit.
The videos depicted female children as young as 10 years old, detectives said.
A charge of criminal use of a communication facility was dismissed against Comeriato.
