Anthony ‘Tony’ C. Majeski 92, a longtime resident of Manasquan and Holmdel, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife Claire and his family on Thursday,October 26, 2023.
Tony was born in Perth Amboy, N.J. in 1931 and graduated from Perth Amboy High School. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Rider University in 1959. Tony served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany and France in special forces. He entertained the troops with his musical talents and his love for the accordion. Over the years playing would be one of his greatest joys entertaining family, friends, and his many grandchildren during the holidays and at family gatherings.
Tony had a prolific career as a banking executive starting out at KPMG International in the Accounting and Consulting Division. He then joined Carteret Savings Bank as Sr. Executive Vice President where his leadership and financial acumen led him to being named President and CEO of Berkeley Federal Savings Bank.
Throughout his life Tony served on many prominent company boards and worked with organizations often donating his time and financial expertise. He was a member of the Financial Managers’ Society and the New Jersey Savings League, among others. In later years, Tony was also active in Four Seasons at Wall HOA as a member of the board of trustees and finance committee. He was a natural athlete with a love of baseball and golf. He was drafted by the NY Giants Baseball Team at the age of 17.
Tony was a devout Catholic, he was a lector at St Catharine’s Church of Holmdel, N.J., and a member of the congregation of St. Denis, Manasquan, N.J. He will be remembered as a perfect gentleman with a great sense of humor who loved his family and friends.
Tony is survived by his devoted wife, Claire (Welch) Majeski, daughter Dr. Robin A. Majeski of Silver Spring, MD., son and daughter in law Anthony ‘TJ’ and Anna Majeski of Robbinsville, N.J., daughter Tracy Welch of Little Silver, N.J., son Thomas E. Welch (deceased) of Point Pleasant, N.J. daughter and son-in-law Leslie and Jay Campbell of Fairhaven, N.J. and 9 grandchildren; Oliver, Blake, Lili, Ella, Shannon, Chase, Thomas, Noelle and Jack and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is predeceased by his first wife Barbara R. Majeski and four brothers: Raymond, Richard, Stanley, and Eugene Majeski.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday November 3rd, 2023, at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736, from 3-6 pm. As well as a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 4th, at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, Manasquan, NJ, at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 529, 1540 Tanner Avenue, Manasquan, NJ 08736.
