Mary C. Hourihan, 94, of Spring Lake Heights, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, surrounded by her loving children. Mary was born and raised in Manhattan, NYC. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School, NYC. She moved to Old Bridge, NJ in 1959, and raised her family in Marlboro, NJ. Mary had lived in the shore area for the last 20 years. She was a communicant of St. Denis Church. She was an avid bridge player, she also enjoyed doing crafts like sewing, crocheting, and painting. Mary lived for her children and grandchildren.
Mary was predeceased by her husband James Hourihan in 2010, a brother Edward Nugent, a sister Madeline Cleary, and a great granddaughter Finley. She is survived by her loving children, James Hourihan, Jr. and his wife Janet of MD, Edward Hourihan of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Maureen Seber of Spring Lake Heights, NJ, Kevin Hourihan of Wall, Sheila Hourihan of Spring Lake Heights, and Bridget Friel and her partner Tom of Spring Lake Heights, NJ. Mary was the cherished grandmother of Michael, Heather, Bridget, Christopher, Ryan, Dylan, and Brendan. She was also a great grandmother of 10.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Beach Chapel, 554 E. Main Street, Manasquan, NJ 08736. Interment at a later date at Brig. Gen William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by going online to http://www.stjude.org.
