BRADLEY BEACH – Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago issued a new appeal for information Wednesday on the 2016 shooting death of Andre Thorne, 19, of Bradley Beach, whose body was found in a car in Neptune Township on Feb. 8 of that year.
In a statement issued by his office, Mr. Santiago said, “Despite the passage of over seven years since the murder of Andre Thorne, detectives from my Office and the Neptune Police Department refuse to let the case grow cold. It is our sincere hope that those efforts motivate individuals in our community to come forward with any information that they may possess.”
The statement include a summary explaining that Neptune Township police officers, responding to a report of a shooting at about 8:18 p.m. on Feb. 8, 2016, found Mr. Thorne “in the driver’s seat of a 2002 red Dodge Neon suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.” According to the police report, “It was discovered that Thorne was sitting in the car with two others at the time of the shooting.”Mr. Thorne rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where was pronounced dead.

The shooting scene was five minutes from the Ocean Avenue, Neptune home of the victim’s mother, Felicia Reid.
During a similar appeal by law enforcement authorities in March 2019, Ms. Reid told The Coast Star that her son had died one month before his 20th birthday on March 7, and said he was “very bright, he was loving, he had a smile that would light up anybody’s day.”
Ms. Reid said she remembered few details from the evening of the shooting, explaining, “My family tells me I just sat there rocking saying, ‘They have the wrong kid.’”

She said her son had graduated from Bradley Elementary School and attended Neptune High School, and had hopes of becoming a mechanic.
At the time of the March 2019 appeal for information, a statement from authorities cited “a lack of subjects with knowledge of the homicide coming forward.”
On Wednesday, Mr. Santiago said that the joint investigation by his office and the Neptune Township Police Department “is still active and ongoing.”
