With his debut EP “Mr. Lonely,” Americana artist John Tornquist releases three tracks teeming with nostalgia but backboned in that new country feel. Released on October 13, 2023, the project harkens back to the height of Bruce Springsteen and Van Morrison in sound, filled with electrifying pedal and lap steel, and the vocal interwoven throughout brings to mind the Mick Jagger/Keith Richards classic combo. While reminiscent of these rock icons, Tornquist manages to stay true to an Americana and country sound with violin fills and the vocal’s tone.
“Everyone involved is so happy to be releasing new music at this time, and I think we are all really proud of the way these songs have evolved,” says Tornquist when asked about his feelings regarding the debut project’s release. “Mr. Lonely” is a new direction for the songwriter and artist and is the perfect representation for the future ahead. With a team of heavy-hitters involved in the three tracks – Marc Muller (Shania Twain) and Rich Travali (Paul Simon, Robin Thicke, Nelly) – the sound of “Mr. Lonely” is a knockout for fans everywhere.
